Cool Features

SR 260 originally only went between Payson and Show Low and was designated as SR 160. However, when US 160 was extended into Arizona, the route was renumbered to 260 to avoid confusion. In 1972, the route was extended east to Eagar and in 1989, it was extended west to Cottonwood as a replacement of SR 279.

Part of SR 260 is designated the White Mountains Scenic Road.
